Qi Gong (working with energy) has been practiced for over 5,000 years. It was originally created by shamans and Taoist sages in China. It was understood that all forms of life are made up of and influenced by energy.
By studying the cycles of nature and its effects on human behavior—specific methods of breathing, meditation, and movement were created for balancing the body, mind, and spirit.
With further studies and practices, it was found that not only was health improved and illnesses shortened; longevity was increased. Fitness also greatly improved.
These methods were utilized to prepare for fighting, battles, and wars. Strength and speed increased. Endurance, balance, and reaction improved. Also, injuries healed much faster with Qi Going.
Martial arts utilized components of Qi Gong in their fighting styles, knowing that harnessing and blending with energy was key for sustainability, and victory.
As a Sports Performance Coach for 40 years, I have been utilizing and integrating Qi Gong methods into ‘all’ sports preparation, training, and recovery.
Most importantly the level of sustainability, and not breaking down with injuries is unmatched.
With Pa’a and aloha,
Coach Michael
