Michael Holland, MS
Founder – Comprehensive Athletic Training
For more than four decades, Michael Holland has coached athletes, professionals, and individuals seeking sustainable strength, recovery, and high-level performance.
Based in San Jose, California, his work integrates modern sports science with Eastern movement practices such as Qigong, breathwork, and mindful movement.
The result is an approach focused not simply on fitness, but on resilience, balance, and long-term performance.
The Journey
Michael’s path into holistic performance coaching began through his own experience as an athlete.
Like many dedicated competitors, he trained intensely for years, pushing his body to perform at a high level. Over time, however, the cumulative stress of traditional training methods began to take its toll.
Rather than ending his physical life, the experience became a turning point.
It led him to explore deeper principles of movement, recovery, and nervous system regulation, ultimately shaping the approach that would become Comprehensive Athletic Training.
Experience
Throughout his career, Michael has worked with a wide range of individuals, including:
• developing youth athletes
• high school and collegiate competitors
• professionals managing demanding careers
• individuals recovering from injuries or physical setbacks
His coaching focuses on helping people build strength, resilience, and sustainable performance that supports both athletic goals and everyday life.
The CAT Philosophy in One Paragraph
Sustainable performance develops when the body, mind, and nervous system work in balance.
The Comprehensive Athletic Training approach integrates intelligent strength development, movement quality, breathwork, and restorative practices such as Qigong to help individuals rebuild resilience, prevent injury, and perform at their highest level for years to come.
This philosophy reflects a principle recognized for centuries: lasting strength does not come from constant force, but from balance between effort, recovery, and awareness.
A Lifelong Commitment to Performance and Health
Whether working with athletes or professionals, Michael’s goal is the same:
To help individuals move better, recover more effectively, and develop the physical resilience needed to thrive in sport, work, and life.
