From Overtraining to Wholeness: My Story
I was one of the top triple jumpers in my high school district — explosive, driven, and addicted to pushing through pain. But by my junior year, I lost 2–3 feet off my best distance. The pain in my hip had become unbearable. My leg would buckle without warning. Still, I pushed harder — because that’s what athletes are taught to do.
Over the next two decades, the damage worsened. By age 45, I had no cartilage left — just bone grinding on bone. I needed a full hip replacement.
But long before the surgery, I started searching for something deeper.
I immersed myself in chiropractic care, physical therapy, massage, deep water running, Rolfing, Feldenkrais, and somatic repatterning. Each method gave me a little more time, a little more space, a little more breath. And then I found what changed everything: Qigong and meditation.
These weren’t just pain relief tools — they were transformation tools. They gave me insight into how to train with awareness, recover with intention, and live from a place of grounded strength.
That injury was my breakdown — but also my breakthrough.
What I Do Now: Training the Whole Athlete
Today, I help athletes and everyday movers reconnect to their strength — physically, mentally, and spiritually. My approach is holistic, sustainable, and deeply personalized.
I don’t just prescribe workouts. I build systems around:
- Mindful movement
- Nervous system resilience
- Strength that lasts
- Recovery and regeneration
- Real food nutrition
- Stillness and somatic awareness
My goal? To help you train for the long game — with presence, power, and purpose.
Who I’ve Worked With
I’ve spent over four decades training and mentoring athletes at every level — from local youth to elite professionals. My coaching experience includes:
- 🏟 Olympic Training Center – Colorado Springs
Collegiate and High School Athletes Nationwide
Pro and Semi-Pro Competitors in football, track & field, martial arts, and baseball- 🧘 Community members and families right here in San Jose, Almaden Valley, and the South Bay
What ties them all together? They’re not just looking for better performance — they’re looking for a better way to train. One that honors the full human system.
Why It Matters
I believe at least 80% of conventional sport-specific coaching is broken — especially for youth. The culture of early specialization, burnout, and overtraining is causing more harm than good. And I’ve lived the consequences firsthand.
At Comprehensive Athletic Training, we do things differently. This work is about more than fitness — it’s about reclaiming balance, building resilient systems, and training the body in a way that uplifts the whole person.
